1.) About me:
"Hold yourself responsible for a higher standard than anybody else expects of you. Never excuse yourself. Never pity yourself. Be a hard master to yourself..”
Before getting into fitness I struggled with the same issues most women in America deal with such as body dysmorphia, eating disorders, low self esteem etc. Finding my passion in fitness has allowed me to overcome those issues and improve the quality of my life dramatically.
Being a nerdy tomboy with a computer engineering background growing up...I never thought my path would drastically change until I discovered my passion Fitness. The transition was simple since the same principles applied for both but are executed differently...such as discipline, self control, being receptive to new ideas and desire to learn the craft and excel in it. Basically from the fitness aspect you are engineering your physique.
My vision started as a personal accomplishment to be the best Dolly there can be and now my focus is to give back to my community and hopefully inspire others.
Thru achieving a professional status in the fitness industry it had given me a level of visibility that opened up the opportunity to reach out to a broader group of people. For instance on a daily basis I received emails, tweets from women who may be in the same position I was years ago struggling with body image, food issues, low self-esteem, depression, and self-actualization. I feel I can make an impact. I see fitness as a vehicle to get message out there and hopefully the more exposure I get, the more people I can actually help.
Fitness is my life and I'm on a never-ending journey. The key is to enjoy the process by taking in the people that you meet, the things that you learned, mistakes that you made and what you do with them. It had made me a more complete person and put in a position to help others.
However in the bigger scheme of things, it's the most rewarding journey I ever taken cause of the opportunities that opened up to me, to the people I've met, and able to reach out too. This is a journey I strongly urge people to take and see what comes out of it.
Of course everyone needs and should make money. My idea is it to have my own brand, mainly online classes, books and nutritional products. I want to be in a position where I have my own facility. Hopefully expand it to an online brand with information products, cooking classes and programs catered to different groups. What it boils down to is that people want someone who they can relate too. Therefore if the perception of yourself is not a lined with what other people do you simply can't achieve happiness. Fitness is definitely a great portal of bringing these two things together.
The biggest benefit of fitness is the element of control: you decide what you look like and ultimately that's how you are perceived which is a very empowering message to anyone.
When life kicks me around, the gym becomes my safe haven, here is something that I am in charge of and I take that feeling over into other elements of my life.
